                                                                  TRIUMPHAL ENTRY
PRAYER

QUIET REMINDER

SONG (2 or 3 praise songs).  Favorite song: Hosanna used on Steve Green's Hide Em in Your Heart CD.

VERSE:
MATTHEW 21:9.  Play "diminishing verse" (see last post).  Print verse smaller and smaller to see if the kids can read it.  They think they are tricking you into making you think they can read it when it is tiny.

Object lesson: Show palm branches. The people laid palm branches or coats/cloaks to show Him reverence. Just like they would a king. What are some ways we can worship the Lord and show respect or reverence? We can raise our hands in the air. We can sing praises. We can use instruments. We can kneel or bow. We can even shout praises if it is appropriate.

Palm Branch Game

Bible story: Triumphal entry Matthew 21:1-11

Questions about the Bible story: If they answer a question, they can come up and throw the three palm branches (blind folded). Wherever it lands is how many points they get. Have someone mix up the colors after each time someone throws to keep it fun. Younger children who may not be able to answer questions can still participate either by throwing a leaf or mixing up the colors.

I got the palm branch template from:  http://www.dltk-bible.com/crafts/mpalm.htm

Jesus Heals the Lepers: Luke 17:11-19

Prayer:

Quiet seat reminder

Song: My God is so Big! What a Mighty God we Serve, God is so good

Verse: Psalm 100:4  Explain meaning. Say the verse. Have kids recognize clipart pictures to go with words. Say the verse. Place pictures over words.

Object lesson:Have an older child help.Act it out: being ungrateful for the Savior's sacrifice or refusing to accept the love of the Savior or his forgiveness in our lives is like if you spent months choosing the perfect birthday gift for person you love the most. You had sold everything you owned to purchase this special gift. Then, when it came time to give the gift, which you had wrapped in the most costly and beautiful wrapping you could find, the receiver simply looked at your package and said, "no thanks" without even opening it. The thought of how that would feel reminds me everyday to thank my Heavenly Father for the sacrifice of the Savior and recognize His hand in all the blessing I receive in this life and the blessings I will receive in the life to come. Bible Story: Jesus Heals the Lepers

Questions about the Bible story: If they answer they get to come up and glue something they are thankful for onto the mural poster (Things we are thankful for:  I used cutouts from magazines & printouts like parents, food, home, etc)

If needed, use points system  (I use gift bags with clothespins. Child chooses a clothespin which has points on it out of the gift bag.)

If time, read the story of Harriet Tubman p. 23 in the book Growing Together in Gratitude by Barbara Rainey
